This is when a client has come in with something that ill prevent or restrict the treatment from taking place such as bruising, cuts and abrasions, skin allergies, epilepsy, diabetes, high/low blood pressure, claustrophobia, recent scar tissue, piercings can all restrict the treatment.
• Active or uncontrolled diabetes – If it is dietary controlled you could do a treatment however you will need a GP’s note and only treat on level 1. if on steroids/ insulin for condition we can not treat.
• Raised moles, Warts, skin tags – just work around the area.
• Skin cancer & autoimmune diseases (aids, HIV, ME and MS) – due to cocktail of medication and the micro-circulation being increased.
• Eczema, seborreic dermatitis, psoriasis – if only small patch work around the area.
• Telangiectasias – broken capillaries work around the area as treatment very stimulating.
• Pregnancy – All stages should be avoided as hormone levels are higher during this time.
• Rosacea & active acne is a non-contagious skin inflammation that exclusively affects the face. The small surface blood vessels (capillaries) of the skin enlarge, giving the appearance of a permanent flush. The forehead, cheeks and chin may develop yellow-headed pimples. Unlike acne, rosacea does not scar.
• Herpes simplex – can be stimulated due to micro-circulation therefore if client is prone to outbreaks it is recommended that a preventative cream is used 2 days prior and 3 days after treatment.
• Asthma – only if on steroids for the condition.
• Keloid scars – anyone who has keloid scars should be avoided. Keloids are firm, rubbery lesions or shiny, fibrous nodules, and can vary from pink to the colour of the person’s skin or red to dark brown in colour. A keloid scar is benign and not contagious, but sometimes accompanied by severe itchiness, pain, and changes in texture. In severe cases, it can affect movement of skin.
• Accutane – Given by GP’s for acne. The client should finis the course and leave at least 6 months before having a MDA treatment, this allows the skin time to repair itself.
