Hydra Dermabrasion Demonstration

Step-by-step demonstration of the Hydro-Dermabrasion (Hydra Facial) handpiece function on a hydra dermabrasion machine. You’ll observe the precise techniques for selecting and attaching the appropriate hydro-tip, preparing and filling the solution bottles, and executing the correct application method on the skin.

This visual guide is designed to equip you with the practical skills needed to effectively utilize the hydro-dermabrasion handpiece for comprehensive cleansing, gentle exfoliation, painless extractions, and deep hydration in your facial treatments. Following this demonstration, you will be required to submit a video assessment of yourself performing this technique to confirm your proficiency.

For optimal viewing and to ensure you capture every detail, please set your video quality to High Definition (HD).

No or Weak Suction?

  • Solution Levels: Check solution levels in both the “Solution” tank (ensure it’s not empty) and the “Waste” tank (ensure it’s not full).
  • Clean Tip: Inspect and clean the dermabrasion tip thoroughly – it’s the most common cause of clogs from skin debris or product residue.
  • Hose Connections: Ensure all solution hoses are securely connected to their correct intake and waste ports.
  • Suction Level: Verify the suction level setting on the main unit; adjust as needed.
  • Hose Kinks/Blockages: Check for any kinks or blockages in the clear hoses.
  • Clean Filters: Ensure internal filters (if applicable to your model) are clean and not clogged.

Solution Not Flowing?

  • Clear Hoses: Confirm solution lines are free of kinks or internal blockages.
  • Air Bubbles: Check for large air bubbles in the solution hose that could impede flow.

Solution Leaking?

  • Tight Connections: Tighten all connections, especially at the bottle caps/lids and where hoses connect to the handpiece and machine.
  • Inspect Seals: Inspect O-rings or seals for any signs of wear or damage and replace if necessary.

Handpiece Clogging Frequently?

  • Proper Cleaning: Ensure you are properly cleaning the tips after every use.
  • Solution Consistency: Use the recommended solution consistency; overly thick solutions can contribute to clogs.

Instructions for the Practical Assessment Submission:

Assessment Goal: To demonstrate your practical competency in setting up and correctly utilizing the Hydro-Dermabrasion (Hydra Facial) handpiece of a hydra dermabrasion machine.

What to Submit: A short video (approximately 2-4 minutes) of yourself demonstrating the hydro-dermabrasion technique, covering at least one full pass on a section of the face (e.g., forehead or cheek).

Video Submission Requirements:

  • Client Comfort (Optional but Recommended): Briefly mention or simulate how you would ensure client comfort during this step, including checking suction levels and ensuring appropriate hydration.
  • Verbal Explanation (Recommended): As you perform the steps, it is highly recommended to verbally explain what you are doing and why. For example, “I’m using the blue tip for exfoliation,” or “This overlapping motion ensures even coverage and optimal suction.”
  • Demonstration of Key Steps: Your video should clearly show:
    • Attachment/detachment of a hydro-tip.
    • Adjustment of suction level (if applicable and visible).
    • Correct handpiece grip and angle.
    • Smooth, consistent passes over the skin.
    • Observation of the waste water bottle (briefly, to show impurities are being removed).
  • Video Clarity: Please ensure your video submission is filmed in High Definition (HD) and is well-lit so all actions are clearly visible.
